Brian (1944-2021) Denington
Brian Denington was born in Glastonbury, Somerset. He studied fine art and illustration at the South East Essex School of Art from 1961 to 1966. He had grown up at a time when illustration was in it's heyday and he became an illustrator working freelance for various publishers and agencies in London. At the same time her regularly produced and exhibited his own work with a growing interest in portraiture, which increasingly formed a major part of his illustrative work
He has held a number and a variety of solo exhibitions and has exhibited at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. His commissions have been many and varied, both family & corporate portraits and include such as Elvis Presley & George Melly for CD albums, and oil & water colour portraits of Sir John Barbirolli for his widow Lady Evelyn Barbirolli and to hang in Trinity College London. Whilst living in Ireland he was invited artist at the Carlow Eigse and the Royal Hibernian Academy. He was later commissioned to produce a large painting for the Dáil in Dublin containing a number of portraits of Irish politicians and heroes of the Republic and later engaged as resident artist during the Irish general election campaign in 2002.

He lived and worked for a while in France where he placed less emphasis on portraiture, and concentrated almost entirely on nude and figure studies. Recently he has very happily returned to his roots and lives in Devon and regularly shows and sells his work in the UK, and Dublin,
